This week was my first time stringing cords together and my dad taught me how to play my very first song. The first song I learned to play was Mary Had A Little Lamb. Mary Had A Little Lamb is made up of the three cords I learned in the previous week. Those cords would be open G, C, and D. The sequence of cords go like this: GGGG, CCCC, GGGG, DDDD, GGGG, CCCC, GG, DD, G. Trying to go from one cord to another was the most challenging part of playing Mary Had A Little Lamb. Another hard thing about playing Mary Had A Little Lamb was hitting each cord cleanly and not touching another string. Also pressing down on the right strings hard enough to make it sound good was tough for me. Pressing down on the strings really hard makes my fingers start to hurt but my dad said that to make it sound good I had to press down so hard that there was nothing between the string and the board on the neck of the banjo. During the middle of mine and my dad's lesson my fingers were starting to hurt really bad. My dad said for me to try playing the song on his friend's banjo that he was borrowing for a little while. The new banjo was much easier to play and the strings weren't as hard to press down. When I played the new banjo it sounded a lot better than when I was using my dad's banjo. The new banjo is the one that I am using in the video and will probably use for the rest of this project as long as my dad's friend doesn't need it back. I still need to practice more to make it sound cleaner and to get the timing down better but you can definitely tell that I have improved a lot since when I began playing the banjo last week.

I like this song but I would want to hear The Devil went down to Georgia by Charlie Daniels in front of the class. Shout out to myself. Come visit my website.
